AGRIFOOD 2020-2030 #FoodHeroes

Rome, Italy, 16/10/2020 16/10/2020

On the occasion of World Food Day (WFD), Roma Capitale (Municipality of Rome) joins the call to action with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the #FoodHeroes campaign. This initiative celebrates and calls attention to the thousands of people that, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, have played an important role in supporting the most vulnerable.

This initiative not only celebrates #FoodHeroes as individuals and tells their stories but also recognizes the role of collective groups – entrepreneurs and workers along the food supply chain, and shines a light on those who, every day, show courage and a great commitment to excellence and to the development of their communities. These stories vary widely and range from celebrating the production of artisanal bread, the processing and curing of meats, viticulture, and the production of organic milk. Traditions have evolved but remained strong and continue to be a part of today’s culture, enriching the contemporary culinary traditions of Rome and its region.
