SubRegional Office for North Africa in Tunis, Tunisia:

There are a number of Sub-regional Offices for FAO. The Regional Office for the Near East provides guidance and support to its Sub-regional Office for North Africa (SNEA) and country offices located in the Region. The Sub-regional Office is headed by a Sub-regional Representative and includes a multi-disciplinary team and policy Assistance unit.

The Sub-regional Representative is responsible for the overall planning of FAO activities in the Sub-region. With the guidance and support of the Regional Representative, he ensures multi-disciplinarity of approach to problems and programmes; identifies priority areas of action for the Sub-region; provides managerial and administrative supervision and support for the implementation of approved programmes in the Sub-region; monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to any deficiencies in order that corrective measures and policy guidance can be assured.
