The Regional Near East Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations will organize in collaboration with the Desert Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa (DLCO-EA), a second Regional Aerial Training Course on Desert Locust Operations in Ethiopia during the period from 8 - 11 June, 2009.

The training course will be attended by Locust Officers from: Egypt, Ethiopia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen and Syria, in addition to pilots from private spray companies operating in Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia & Sudan and a pilot from the Omani Air Force.

The main objective of the training is to train the new participants and retrain the previously trained ones on advanced aerial survey & control of Desert Locust techniques, calibration and specification of aircraft used for aerial operation, in addition to other relevant subjects to aerial application such as specifications of air strips, tendering procedures, etc.
