The Regional Office for the Near East of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Organizes an Advanced Training Workshop on “Camel Health and Transboundary Animal Diseases” in Tunisia

The Regional Office for the Near East of the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/RNE) in collaboration with the French International Research Center for Agricultural Development (CIRAD) - Montpellier France, ENV Sidi Thabet will organize an Advanced Training Workshop on “Camel Health and Transboundary Animal Diseases” in Tunisia.

 

The workshop will take place during the period from Monday 9 till Wednesday 11 March 2009, with the participation of fourteen countries of the Near East and North Africa Region:  Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Yemen, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, UAE and Tunisia, as well as experts from FAO Headquarters in Rome and the Regional Office for the Near East in Cairo and other countries.

 

In order to fulfil the needs of the different camel health sectors, the objective of this advanced training workshop is to: (1) Provide development agents, veterinarians working in arid zones, solid high-level training in camel biology and pathology; (2) Analyze and discuss past experiences and perspectives for camel health and transboundary diseases; and (3) Provide a forum for specialists in camel health where they can compare and contrast experiences and points of view.
