Local area network system developed and purchase of communication completed to establish area networking. National consultant trained staff of LMA on web design and maintenance.
An international expert on Market research has made three visits. Prepared market research manual and also trained selected staff of LMA on market research. Two groups composed of two staff members of LMA each visited Sudan and Botswana , an exporting countries to obtain first hand information for collection and design of market information

Project Number: Trade-related Vector-borne Animal Disease in Ethiopia with Particular Reference to Rift Valley Fever

Objective of Project: To strengthen animal disease surveillance systems through building capacity in risk analysis, disease and soro-surveillance, in particular for vector borne diseases with a view to building confidence with countries to which Ethiopia exports livestock.

Diagnostic capacity building to Sabeta Lab. Staff.
Training in surveillance of RVF for regional veterinarians and regional staff.
Design action plan for RVF. Collection of blood samples for laboratory testing in Sebeta Lab

Project Title: Pilot Rubber Production and Processing

Objective of Project: - To introduce latex production and dry rubber processing techniques and techniques appropriate to rubber production in Ethiopia ;
- To assess the study undertaken in 1995/6 and its relevance to current agro-economic feasibility within the country and within international rubber markets.
- To carry out latex and dry rubber yield tests on the existing 14,000 young rubber threes, thereby reconfirming the findings of the 1995/6 feasibility study
Status Of Project: Project was approved by the Director-General on 25 January, 2002 . The project successfully terminated end of June, 2003 and was catalytic for Gov. to allocate land for future rubber development.
