Status Of Project: The Agreement of Cooperation between FAO and the Government of Norway was signed on 16 November, 2001 . The reparation phase (6 months) has been completed. Based on the results of baseline study, work plan for pilot phase is developed. Workshops for farmers and development agents planned for preparation phase implemented A comprehensive proposal developed for the project expansion phase implementation strategy giving emphasis to attain sustainable impact on strengthening seed supply system at local levels Procurement and distribution of improved varieties of seeds to beneficiary farmers implemented during the year 2003 Meher season Capacity building , training, demonstrations, workshops and seminars were carried out Seed production and varietals demonstrations conducted Seed marketing and crop-harvest agro-processing studies undertaken Women group formed to implement seed related activities such as vegetable production Development of a proposal for integrating HIV/AIDS concerns in the project

Objective of Project: Pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in 20 Woredas in Afar, Somali, and Oromia (Borena Zone) National Regional States have increased capacity to withstand external shocks and regional authorities have the means to identify and deal with animal disease outbreaks.
Status Of Project: Generally the project started as of January 2006 and expected to be finalized before June 2006. So far the necessary veterinary inputs purchased and the vaccination and treatment campaigns have started

February. 2007.
