Mr. Oloche Anebi Edache, Assistant Director General and FAO Regional Representative for Africa
Mr. Oloche Anebi Edache was appointed FAO Assistant Director-General/Regional Representative for Africa, effective 31 January 2005. Mr. Edache, a national of Nigeria holds a M.Sc. in Agricultural Extension from Kansas State University, USA. He brings in more than 30 years wealth of experience in the agricultural sector, having worked extensively, in senior positions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development in Nigeria.
His commitment to the African continent, through the Regional Office for Africa (RAF), is to give all due and necessary support to member countries in the implementation of the agricultural and rural component of NEPAD and to help FAO contribute its quota towards the realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). RAF will continue to give major priority to the Special Programmes for Security (SPFS) and to be at the disposal of member states whose agricultural policies need updating in order to attain the desired output.
RAF's main ambition in summation, under the leadership of the ADG/RR, is to promote agricultural development in the continent with the view of improving the socio-economic and political status of the people of Africa. The key factor that will be vital towards achieving this goal will be RAF's commitment to providing updated and relevant information to the general public, governmental bodies, scholars, stakeholders, NGO's, students, Businessmen and women. The RAF website, launched two years ago, will definitely serve as a technical and efficient tool through which this objective will be achieved. The website will also provide a forum for exchange of knowledge and skills in the fields of Agriculture, fisheries, forestry, nutrition etc by individuals and institutions across the continent. As a leading FAO organ in the continent of Africa, RAF will, through the various units and country offices continue to serve humanity with dedication and diligence.
