West Africa Bushmeat Network
Welcome to the website of the West African Bushmeat Network!
This site serves to facilitate the exchange of information on bushmeat between countries and organizations. It was created after the West African Bushmeat Conference, held in Accra, Ghana, from 22-24 February 2005. During this conference, government representatives of twelve countries were present: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. At the end of the conference, a regional action plan was drafted to harmonize the management of the bushmeat crisis in the various countries.
On this site you will find information about the conference itself, including the Draft Action Plan, pictures from the conference, information concerning the bushmeat crisis, information about domestication of wild animal species and links to NGO's and other organizations which can provide useful information about bushmeat.
Please use the menu on the left to go to the different contents.
If you have information, questions or comments which you would like to see posted on this website, please send an email to the focal point, Miss Lonneke Bakker, who can be reached at the following email address: WABN@fao.org.
