Read the State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2004, FAO's flagship review
The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA) is the Fisheries Department's premier advocacy document. It is published every two years with the purpose of providing policy-makers, civil society and those who derive their livelihood from the sector with a comprehensive, objective and global view of capture fisheries and aquaculture, including associated policy issues.
Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC)
Established in 1948 as an international agreement under the ageis of FAO, the functions of the Commission are to promote full and proper utilization of the living aquatic resources of the Asia-Pacific area by the development and management of fishing and culture operations and by the development of related processing and marketing activities in conformity with the objectives of its members.
