Rice prices up as stocks are falling, says FAO
|

Bangkok - World rice inventories at the close of the present crop seasons ending in 2004 are now forecast at 102 million tons, down 20 million from their opening level. As market conditions remain tight, rice prices are expected to continue a steady recovery from last year low levels.

Today, as people gather around the world to celebrate World Food Day, I would like to remind everyone of the paramount significance of this celebration; to rid the world of hunger.
For still 840 million people, around 800 million of them in developing countries, suffer from chronic hunger.
