Wim Polman
Rural Development Officer

Wim Polman is in charge of rural development, poverty alleviation and sustainable agriculture and rural development (SARD), focusing on the livelihood issues of small-scale rural producers and the most vulnerable rural poor, including marginal farmers, the landless, women, indigenous people's and persons with disabilities. He plays an active role in promotion of pro-poor decentralized policies and institution building for inclusion and empowerment of the rural poor through participatory local planning, entrepreneurial skills development and improved access to productive resources and services.

Expertise: Policy formulation and project design for pro-poor gender sensitive participatory planning at national, regional and local levels; institutional capacity building, training programs and materials and skills development on local governance and rural enterprise, including agricultural cooperative development; team work on intersectoral and interagency technical assistance; regional networking with governments, non-governmental organizations and community level associations of the poor.
