WelcomeWelcome | Development of SARD | Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue SARD in JohannesburgThe main purpose of WSSD is to allow Governments, UN agencies, international finance institutions, Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders to assess global change since the 1992 Earth Summit. WSSD is a crucial step for the development and implementation of SARD in the fight against hunger and poverty; it will allow stakeholders from all sectors of society to evaluate progress and evolution, success and failures since Rio. WSSD is a chance for all key players in agriculture, environment, and development to come together and concretize viable partnerships and commitments, in accordance with the second type of outcomes expected from the Summit. A number of proposals for partnerships were proposed at PrepComII (see Proposals for Partnerships/Initiatives to Strengthen the Implementation of Agenda 21). PrepComIII produced general guidelines and defined the scope and modalities of "type two"outcomes (see Further Guidance for Partnerships/Initiatives, and the Vice-Chairs’ Summary of the Informal Meetings on Partnerships/Initiatives). To support the development of non-negotiated type-two outcomes in relation to SARD, in Preparation for WSSD, FAO is facilitating the following tasks:
