World Environment Day 2018 is coming soon

11/05/2018

World Environment Day 2018 is fast approaching on 5 June.  This year’s World Environment Day is hosted by the Government of India, but it will also be celebrated globally.

We sincerely urge all key stakeholders to share the attached outreach material which entails this year's theme of “beating plastic pollution" based on the commitments of the plastic agenda (“reduce, reuse, and recycle. If you can’t reuse it, refuse it”).

The #BeatPlasticPollution movement/challenge is an opportunity to showcase that individuals and communities alike can play a pivotal role in the fight against plastic pollution. This advocacy and outreach are based on the following:

(1) Planning a cleanup: on 5 June the people and communities can go to their nearest riverbank, beach, public space to clean up the plastic pollution.

(2) Registration: registration of the event on the global map to highlight the contributions made to the world.

(3) Joining the game of tag on May 24, where the launch of the Beat Plastic Pollution’s game of tag will start, people will be asked to switch from buying and using single-plastic utensils to a reusable product.
