YUNGA at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree – Japan 2015

28/07/2015

The World Scout Jamboree is the largest event organized by WOSM and it takes place every 4 years in a different country. The event gathers young people from around the world, and seeks to encourage youth to grow as global citizens. It is above all an educational event to promote peace and understanding.

From 28th July – 7th August 2015 33,000 scouts from 150 different countries descended on Kirara-Hama in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, to attend the 23rd World Scout Jamboree. The atmosphere at the camp was buzzing, with young people fully embracing the theme of the camp – Wa: A spirit of unity.

YUNGA held over 40 workshops in the Global Development Village – a central component of the Jamboree and key to the scouting promise of creating a better world. In the YUNGA workshops scouts from a range of countries took part in a mix of short, fun, interactive activities from various United Nations Challenge Badges, before coming together as a larger group to discuss our role as young individuals in creating a more sustainable world.
