REGULATION

The Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP), Bioversity International, under the auspices of FIDAL (Italian Federation for Athletics), with the support and collaboration of Roma Capitale, is organizing the 10th edition of the Zero Hunger Run (formerly Run for Food and Hunger Run), a 10 km competitive race and a 5 km walking non-competitive event.

The race is included in the FIDAL calendar and it will be held in Rome, Sunday 16 October, 2016. The meeting point will be at the Nando Martellini Stadium (Terme di Caracalla) at 8:00 am and the race will start at 10:00 am from Viale delle Terme di Caracalla.

Who can participate

COMPETITIVE RACE (10 KM)

i) Italian or foreign athletes residing in Italy

- Athletes who are 2016 members of clubs affiliated to FIDAL.

-  Italian and foreign athletes that have the RUNCARD FIDAL combined with specific medical certificate of fitness for competitive athletics has to be shown to the organizers in original copy, and registered  by the organizing company (bring a copy to be delivered and the original to be shown).

- Members of Enti di Promozione Sportiva (EPS), recognized by CONI, whose membership card has been issued under the rules of health protection for the practice of competitive athletics and in accordance with the agreements with FIDAL; these athletes must submit the original membership card of the EPS (for Athletics) valid for 2016. The athletes must submit a copy of their medical certificate for competitive sports as well. Cards issued for sports other than athletics (e.g. football, tennis, cycling etc...) will not be considered valid. The members of EPS can also send a declaration of membership on letterhead with stamp and President’s signature.

It is not allowed to participate with the medical certificate for competitive sports only.

Foreign athletes who are not residing in Italy are not allowed to participate to the competitive race.

ii) Italian athletes residing abroad

Italian athletes residing abroad and foreign athletes residing in Italy, who want to run the competitive race, have to follow the same rules of the Italian competitive athletes:

- registration is compulsory to an Italian sportive group
- the candidate runner has to have the agonistic certificate provided by an Italian sportive doctor.

Enrollments will not be accepted with foreign companies or certificates provided by foreign doctors.

NON-COMPETITIVE WALKING EVENT (5 KM)

Participation in the non-competitive walking event is open to all. No membership card to FIDAL or EPS is required, nor medical certificate. There is no age limit.

Fee and conditions of entry

The registration fee for participating in the competitive and non-competitive race is € 10.00.  Those who register to the non-competitive race on Saturday at the village will pay € 12.00.
 
i) Competitive race

Registration for individual athletes
Fill out and sign the registration form and submit a scanned copy to [email protected], or fax 06.57136147, or hand it in at the headquarters of the Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani, Viale Marco Polo 104, Roma during opening hours. The registration form can also be picked up at registration points for the non-competitive race (LBM sport and others to be determined) or at the headquarters of the Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani.

ii) Registration for clubs:
Submit the form with the list of athletes to be entered in the race. The form needs to include: the personal data for every single participant (name, surname, gender, year of birth, category, ID card number, email address); the company data (type and number of affiliation); a declaration with club stamp and president’s signature that states that all the names in the list have regular membership and health certificate. The form must be sent to [email protected], or fax 06.57136147 or hand it in at the headquarters of the Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani, Viale Marco Polo 104, Roma.

iv) Deadline for entries:
For the competitive race the deadline is Wednesday 12 October 2016 at 6:00 pm. It will also be possible for individuals to register on Friday and Saturday at the Village at the cost of € 12.00.

The registration to the competitive race will be valid upon receipt of the payment.

iv) Non-competitive walking event

Either follow the same rules for athletes participating in the competitive race or go to the registration points for the non-competitive race (UBL Sports, etc.).

You can also sign up on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October at the Zero Hunger Run Village inside the Terme di Caracalla Stadium, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and the same day of the race (Sunday 16 October) at the Zero Hunger Run Village, from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

Pic up of runners Numbers

Runner numbers, chips and kit bags (both for individual runners and clubs) can be picked up Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October at the Zero Hunger Run Village inside the Terme di Caracalla Stadium, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. There, the athletes who have not yet done so must show valid identification document (EPS card, provisional FIDAL renewal slip, statement by the President of the club, card CIP/FCI for athletes with disabilities) stating regular membership for 2016. If these documents are not shown, the clerk will give the kit bag and the bib only.

Starting waves

There will be 3 starting grids: the first one is for top runners with number from 1-100; the second one for all other athletes participating in the 10 km competitive race; the third one to all participants in the 5 km non-competitive race.
Numbers for the competitive race are assigned at the organizing committee discretion, mainly on the basis of the best times in 2016 on the 10 km distance.

Results and timekeeping

The ranking will be calculated by the TDS chips that each participant has received together with the runner number. Chips must be returned to staff after the completion of the race. Athletes who forget to wear the chip are not reflected in the rankings.

Athletes who do not return the chip at the finish line must return it or deliver it to the organization by no later than 30 November 2016. Those who do not return the chip by that date must pay € 18.00 to the organization (equal to the cost of the chip). The clubs are responsible for returning the chips of their athletes. Exchanging numbers and chips with other athletes is strictly forbidden. The organization will carry out random checks to prevent any possible violation in this regard.

Awards

Top 10 men
Top 10 women
Various gadgets will be awarded to the top 5 male and female amateur and master categories according to FIDAL
Top 10 clubs will be awarded with sportive prizes of the Roma Ostia and GSBR. In order to be awarded, clubs must have a minimum of 15 entrants.

Bag storage

A special area will be set up at the Zero Hunger Run Village in the Terme di Caracalla Stadium where the participants in the competitive race could leave their bags.
The organization is not responsible for the custody of bags and cannot be held responsible for any theft, loss or damage.
Leaving valuables in the bags left in the above mentioned areas is forbidden. 

Fee refund

Participation fees are not refundable under any circumstances. However, if an athlete is unable to participate, the kit bag will be available even after the event by 31 October 2016 at the headquarters of the Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani.

Alloted time

The maximum time to complete the competitive race and non-competitive walk is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Refreshment points

For the competitive race, water will be provided about halfway; water, salts and various products will be provided at the finish line. For the non-competitive walk, there will be a refreshment point at the finish line.

Personal data processing policy

In accordance to Article 13 of Legislative Decree 30 June 2003, n.196 be informed that:

  • the data in the registration form are required for registration, to prepare the list of participants, the ranking, the historical archive, to perform the services stated in the rules and regulations and for sending information material about the 2016 Zero Hunger Run or its partners;
  • if the above mentioned personal data are not provided, the participation in the event will not be possible;
  • the rights related to the personal data processing policy are listed in Article 7 of the Legislative Decree n. 196/03. 
  • At any moment the interested party may consult, modify, delete their data free of charge by writing to the person responsible for personal data processing at Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani, Viale Marco Polo 104, 00154 Roma.

Image rights

By subscribing to the 2016 Zero Hunger Run, the athlete authorizes the organization, and its partners, to get for free the right of using still and video images taken on the occasion of the participation in the 2016 Zero Hunger Run in which the athlete may appear. Those images will be used for visuals, promotional materials and/or advertising, produced and distributed all over the world and for as long as it is allowed by the laws, regulations, treaties in force, including all extension that could be made.

Final notice

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend these rules at any time for reasons it deems appropriate for a better organization of the race. For matters not covered by this Rules and Regulations, the FIDAL and GGG statutory technical rules apply. Any modifications to services, places and times will be communicated to the registered athletes or will be posted on the website www.Zerohunger.Run.
