Policy responses

-Ensure social safety nets are prepared for a shock and can respond to the increased need for food and nutrition security measures such as increase recovery and redistribution of foods.  (For example the European Food Bank Fedration has sent out a flash appeal to prepare for increased needs.)                               

-Loosen regulations around the use of federal funds by food banks to include the direct procurement of foods that otherwise would go to waste (recommendation by the U.S. National Sustainable Agriculature Coalition)
