International standards for machinery and terminology are developed by ISO, the International Standards Organization, through technical committees (TC) and subcommittees (SC) of specialists in each discipline. Development of standards relating to machinery used in forest operations is handled by ISO/TC 23, Tractors and Machinery for Agriculture and Forestry, through two subcommittees:

ISO/TC 23/SC 15, Machinery for Forestry, and
ISO/TC 23/SC 17, Manually Portable Forest Machinery.

Table 1 summarizes the ISO standards on forest-machinery terminology which have been developed by these two subcommittees.
