SEED OF FROST HARDY EUCALYPTUS SPECIES

In 1980, a group of foresters from the Ecole National de Génie Rural des Eaux et des Forêts (ENGREF), France, in collaboration with the CSIRO Division of Forest Research and Australian State Forest Services, carried out seed collections of Eucalyptus spp. with the view of sampling potentially frost-hardy species and provenances. The following species were collected in New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory: Eucalyptus delegatensis (5 provenances); E. dives (2 provenances); E. nitens (2 provenances); E. pauciflora (1 provenance, plus a single-tree collection from an additional provenance).

A limited amount of seed from the above collections will be made available by FAO free of charge to interested developing countries. Requests for experimental quantities of seed, accompanied by site and climatic data for proposed test sites, should be sent to the Director, Forest Resources Division, FAO, Rome (see exact address above).
