TERMS OF REFERENCE OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

RAF/87/099 - Inland Fisheries Planning, Development and Management in Eastern/Central/Southern Africa is a regional project, financed by UNDP and executed by FAO.

The participating countries are: Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The participating regional intergovernmental organizations are CEPGL, PTA and SADDC.

The Advisory Committee is established to facilitate the active participation by the Governments, the regional intergovernmental organizations and the Donor Agency in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project.

1. The members of the Advisory Committee are:

  1. Participating countries and regional intergovernmental organizations

  2. the Donor Agency

  3. the Executing Agency

2. The Committee will advise on project implementation by:

  1. reviewing the progress and results of project activities and their relevance to the project's immediate objectives;

  2. analyzing the performance as to the approach, rate and quality of execution and liaison with countries and agencies concerned;

  3. examining the work programme and the annual work plans.

3. The meetings of the Committee:

  1. will be held at least once a year in participating countries on a rotational basis;

  2. will be convened by the Secretariat in consultation with participating countries;

  3. its conclusions and recommendations will be documented in reports adopted by the Committee.

4. The Secretariat of the Committee will be provided by the project.
