VI. Conclusion of the project

  1. Workshop : Participants accepted they have thought of the danger of HIV/AIDS
and drug abuse before. The workshop made them realize about it so they will take
    care of themselves and families.

The 4-H Committee members became acquaintance with National 4-H Council members. All of them are concerned with news and information and realized how IT is important to their daily lives and business. They learned that information could be accessed by many kinds of media apart from newspapers. Internet technology is another means to build network among 4-H clubs and relevant people. Most of participants requested the same kind of workshop more often. Agricultural activity improvement : Training environment was created in four 4-H clubs in the provinces of Udonthani, Surin, Buriram and Ratchaburi in accordance with agriculture activities the Thai 4-H members should use as teaching specimen while training facility were also established.

Lao-Thai Training course : Four Thai 4-H clubs experienced conducting a homestay training course. They planned the whole course together so that the contents were comprehensive. They allowed young Lao farmers to learn various agricultural practices with appropriate skills adaptable to small farm situation. As the climatic condition of Thailand and Laos are similar, Lao participants stated that the technology gained from the course was practical. The Thai 4-H members who accompanied Lao participants assisted in better understanding between Thai and Lao members as well as in technology transfer because the Thai members could speak Lao well. Good friendship among them also occurred. It was observed that 4-H club organizing was of interest to Lao participants. POP-ED and environment matters has been discussed in the evening sessions, and was found less serious problem in Laos. Marketing was regarded as the key success for the four 4-H clubs but it tended to impede the technology adoption of Lao participants because they could not find market for their products easily.

Korean-Thai IFYE. Supported by FAO made it possible for Farm Youth Sub division to cooperate in Farm Youth Exchange Program with Korea 4-H Federation. It was found not only a very valuable experience but also a powerful motivation for Thai people in agriculture sector. Visiting and advanced country excited their curiosity to know how they became successful, what were the problems they had faced and how they dealt with those problems. It was observed that the comparison of different and similar agriculture activities always occurred. Participants were active and anxious to learn what they think was better than their existing practices.
