CURRENT SITUATION
Seasonal rains from April to June relief to pastoral areas, affected by severe dry weather conditions in the past months likely to have affected the condition of pastures and animals. However, an assessment is not yet available.
As livestock rearing is the main economic activity in the country, the food situation of the affected population is assumed to be tight.
The country is extremely dependent on imports, mostly commercial for cereal consumption.
