TAC will use the outcome of this study as an input into its current deliberations on future CGIAR priorities and strategies and resulting recommendations on resource allocation. TAC's views on policy, public management and institution strengthening research and service, if endorsed by the Group, will also provide a background for the development of centre medium-term plans for the period 1998-2000. Finally, many of the issues raised in this study will be further explored in the forthcoming external reviews of several centres such as ISNAR, IFPRI, and CIFOR.
