2. NARRATIVE

The vessel arrived in Luanda on 7 August with a three day delay caused by lengthy passport formalities in Gabon. The survey started on 8 August. Figures 1 - 4 show the cruise tracks with hydrographical sections and the fishing stations.

The first two days were spent steaming south with a call on Porto Alexandre on 10 August for calibration of the acoustic instruments. Five days were then spent in the area between the border with Namibia and Porto Alexandre. The narrow shelf up to Benguela was covered in two days, while another seven days were spent working up towards Luanda where a call was made on 24 August. The survey was resumed on 25 August and terminated in Cabinda on 10 September with an interruption from 28 to 31 August for a call on Point Noir. The inshore area off Ambriz - Ambrizete was covered twice.
