The vessels itinerary was as follows:
Departure Panama: 28 October.During 5 days of work in Colombian waters the vessel steamed about 820 nm and 28 trawl stations were made. The course tracks and the fishing stations for the Colombian shelf is shown in Figure 1. This shelf is generally very narrow and with an abrupt and steep slope which only occasionally permits trawling at greater depths than abt 100 m.
Arrival San Juan del Sur: 18 November.
During 10 days of work in Panama waters the distance steamed was abt. 1550 nm and 56 fishing stations were worked. The course tracks and the fishing stations for the Panama shelf is shown in Figure 2. In the Gulf of Panama the shallow areas east of the Pearl Islands, in the Bay of Panama and along the western shore were densely covered while the more central parts were given a more open coverage. The coverage of the western gulfs is more open than those of the previous surveys.
During 6 days of work in Costa Rican waters the distance steamed was about 950 nm and 47 fishing stations were worked. The course tracks and the fishing stations for Costa Rica is shown in Figure 3. One day was spent in the calm waters of Golfo Dulce for calibration of the acoustic instruments.
The weather conditions were favourable during the whole period of work.
