Survey objectives
The general objective was an acoustic-cum trawl survey to describe the distribution, composition and abundance of the resources of small pelagic fish. Attention should also be given to triggerfish which has previously been abundant in the area.
A meeting was held in CRO, Abidjan on 3rd October. Dr. J. Conan proposed a denser coverage for the small pelagic fish in the western part of Ivory Coast. If possible deep water trawling experiments should be made on the slope for crustaceans and cephalopods in addition to the acoustic survey.
The Ghanese scientists proposed some trawling on the outer shelf (80-120 m) if time permitted.
