Programme prospectus
The course presents a methodology for identifying the main characteristic features (constraints and opportunities) of gravity-fed irrigation systems, which influence management and operation of the system for the purpose of water delivery. The methodology is applicable for analysis of entire irrigation systems or subsystems.

The course proposes typology analysis activities related to system operation at four levels. A case study of irrigation systems in Sri Lanka is presented illustrating the practical application of the proposed typology. The typology could be used as a tool to improve operation as well as modernization required at the different parts of the irrigation system.
