The International Symposium on Agricultural Innovation for Family Farmers: Unlocking the potential of agricultural innovation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

It is expected that there will be up to 500 participants in the symposium. They will be representatives of FAO member state governments, United Nations bodies and specialized agencies, intergovernmental organizations and non-state actors. This last group includes the representatives of civil society organizations; private sector entities (including philanthropic foundations); academia and research institutions; and producer organizations and cooperatives.

Representatives of governments, UN bodies/specialized agencies and intergovernmental organizations:

  • Invitations will be sent by FAO’s Conference, Council and Protocol Affairs Division.
  • Invitations to governments are expected to be sent by the end of July.

Representatives of non-state actors (NSAs) can express their interest in attending the symposium here, where they will also find relevant background information as well as the criteria for participation of representatives of the different groups of non-state actors.

Please note:

  • The deadline for expression of interest is 23.59 Rome time on 31 August 2018.
  • Only successful applicants will be contacted by email - to inform them that their expression of interest to attend the symposium has been approved.
  • Successful applicants will receive this email about 10 September 2018, thereby allowing them to organise their visa and travel arrangements in time.
  • FAO does not have funding available for representatives of non-state actors to participate in this international symposium.
  • The total number of places for representatives of non-state actors is limited.
  • Only one representative per non-state actor (i.e. one per civil society organization; producer organization or cooperative; private sector entity or academic/research institution) will be considered.
