Regional Food Insecurity and Nutrition Overviews
About the event The Regional Panorama Reports are a new initiative reporting on the state of food security and nutrition and sustainable agriculture annually within the framework of the SDGs, in collaboration with UN Regional Economic Commission and other partners. These reports complement the global State of Food Security and Nutrition Report (SOFN), providing more in-depth regional evidence-based information and analysis on progress and coherence at regional level to inform policy makers. Each of the five FAO Region Offices recently released a regional panorama report with a focus on an overview of food security and nutrition. This side event will detail emerging issues and policy implications in order to support decision makers at country and regional level in understanding the challenges in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Reports will look for commonalities across regions, as well as provide cross-learning opportunities between countries and regions. The panel of this side event will include a representative from each of the five regions. They will discuss how their regions and countries are planning to carry on the implementation of the 2030 Development Agenda, and what are the knowledge gaps facing this Agenda. Purpose The side event will present the key findings of the regional panorama reports (all regional panorama report will be launched initially in regional offices), to support cross learning globally and regionally on how to support countries and regions respond on the challenge to achieve the goals of the 2030 Development Agenda and the way forward to implement the SDGs. | |||||||||||||
