FACT SHEET: Nutrition mainstreamed in FAO’s Strategic Objectives

To face the challenges posed by major global trends in agricultural development and meet the needs of member nations, FAO has identified five Strategic Objectives for its programmes and interventions:

  • Strategic Objective 1: Help eliminate hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition
  • Strategic Objective 2: Make agriculture, forestry and fisheries more productive and sustainable
  • Strategic Objective 3: Reduce Rural Poverty
  • Strategic Objective 4: Enable inclusive and efficient agricultural and food systems
  • Strategic Objective 5: Increase the resilience of livelihoods to disasters

Nutrition considerations are incorporated into each Strategic Objective, ensuring that nutrition is prioritized in FAO’s work, as well as the work of its partners, relevant stakeholders and governments.
