International Symposium on Fisheries Sustainability

Side event
Educating children on sustainable management of our marine resources and overall welfare of the sea

Wednesday, 20 November 2019 / 10:00 – 14:00

Iran room foyer, FAO headquarters

Background

Organized by artist Ms Publia Cruciani, FAO and Saint George’s British International School in Rome, the workshop aims to raise children’s awareness about the importance of looking after our oceans, recycling waste and reducing plastic use, building on the overall message of sustainability through an artistic lens.

Ms Publia Cruciani will explain how recovered material (otherwise seen as garbage) can be transformed into pieces of art or fun objects, or otherwise find new life. Children will work on individual or collective projects using the materials they collected during a previous trip to the beach.
