Julia Tagwireyi

Julia Tagwireyi has over 40 years’ experience in the area of public nutrition in the Caribbean, Zimbabwe, and Sub-Sahara Africa.  Her work experience includes Programme planning and management, Institutional and capacity development for nutrition, food and nutrition policy development, inter-sectoral co-ordination and Advocacy  targeting  senior level policy makers and officials in public, private sector institutions as well as in the development civic organizations.  Julia Tagwireyi is a member of the NEPAD Food Security and Nutrition Expert Panel.  She is also a member of the ATONU International Advisory Group for the Nutrition sensitive Agriculture, a project being implemented by the Food agriculture Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN). She continues to be linked to Zimbabwe’s national nutrition agenda through her membership to the National Food and Nutrition Security Strategic Advisory group, a statutory multi-stakeholder body established under the Food and nutrition policy implementation framework, to provide strategic advice to the Food and Nutrition Council of Zimbabwe. Julia Tagwireyi received the 2012 African Nutrition Society (ANS) Award for outstanding contribution to nutrition in Africa.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, from the University of Surrey, England, and a Masters in Professional Studies in International Development, from Cornell University, USA.
