#AfricaWoodfuel21

Woodfuel - charcoal and firewood - constitute over 70% of the energy needs for cooking and heating in sub-Saharan Africa, with consumption on the rise because of population growth and urbanization. Harvesting and processing of woodfuel is often poor and sustainable production and trade remains a contested issue and a big challenge in Africa that needs to be tackled urgently and collectively with all stakeholders involved. The conference brings together a wide range of participants from many sectors - academics, researchers, policy makers and producers - with the aim of sharing best practices and knowledge.
