Technical Workshop “Towards the establishment of a global network for in situ conservation and on farm management of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture

FAO headquarters, Rome, 13 November 2012

During the 13th Regular Session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA), FAO was requested to elaborate on the means and opportunities for establishing a global network for in situ conservation and on-farm management of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture (PGRFA) in coordination with other relevant stakeholders. In order to respond to the request, a consultation process was initiated by FAO in 2012, which involved the undertaking of a global survey on the topic of on-farm management and the facilitation of a technical workshop - Towards the establishment of a global network for in situ conservation and on farm management of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. The objective of the workshop was to identify options, ways and means for establishing a global network for in situ and on-farm management of PGRFA, and the recommendations from the workshop will advice and form an essential input in FAO’s response to CGRFA’s request.

The Report from the workshop is available here.
