The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and its International System for Agricultural Science and Technology (AGRIS) welcome four Bolivian institutions to the AGRIS network. Their participation enhances Bolivia’s role in the global exchange of agricultural and agricultural-related research, fostering collaboration and innovation.
The new AGRIS Network members are:
- Universidad Mayor de San Andrés
- Universidad del Valle de Bolivia
- Universidad Pública de El Alto
- Universidad Andina Simón Bolivar
These institutions bring together 81 records covering themes such as quinoa, compost, deforestation, soil microorganisms, food security, rice, and adaptation to climate change, among others. This contribution enriches AGRIS with valuable insights into Bolivia's agricultural diversity and challenges.
At the AGRIS introduction event, Mr. Rodrigo Roubach, FAO Representative in Bolivia, underscored the FAO's dedication to knowledge sharing as a catalyst for advancing research and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasized the importance of initiatives like AGRIS in providing accessible and relevant agricultural information to researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders.
Bolivia’s presence in AGRIS has seen remarkable progress:
- Before 2024: Only one inactive data provider.
- Now: Four active data providers are contributing regularly.
This transformation is a testament to the commitment of Bolivian institutions and the FAO’s active facilitation in promoting research visibility and accessibility.
Bolivia's collaboration with AGRIS strengthens its capacity to address agricultural challenges, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to global food security.
