With this integration, the AGRIS system now includes around 66,000 records from Mexico. Highlighted topics in these records include zea mays, crop yield, varieties, plant breeding, crop management, and disease resistance, enriching the AGRIS database with key information for agricultural innovation.
The impact of this collaboration has been remarkable: the number of active data providers in Mexico has grown from 5 in 2023 to 40 in 2024. This significant increase reflects a joint effort to solidify Mexico’s presence in global agricultural knowledge networks.
At the AGRIS presentation event, FAO Representative in Mexico, Mrs. Lina Pohl, underscored FAO's commitment to providing essential agricultural information and highlighted Mexico's active collaboration with AGRIS. “The recent inclusion of the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, alongside other institutions, demonstrates Mexico's critical role in agricultural production. Strengthening our participation in systems like AGRIS is essential to amplifying our global impact,” she stated.
This achievement is the result of a strategic collaboration between FAO Mexico and AGRIS, which built a bridge connecting Mexican agricultural research with an international network.
