International Forum Relevant Territories for Sustainable Food Systems

The International Forum Relevant Territories for Sustainable Food Systems, will take place from 17 to 21 July 2019, in Portugal, in Idanha-a-Nova, is a political response capable of territorial level in the The Community of Portuguese Language Countries and in other regions.

The Forum will be a plural space that will house a set of methodologically interrelated discussions (innovation, bio-regions, World Heritage Systems and local public policies), from which policy recommendations and knowledge are sought for the construction and implementation of a coordinated approach to the promotion of sustainable systems and diets within the framework of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries Food and Nutrition Security Strategy, the Family Agriculture Decade and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The theme of Agroecology, applied to different contexts, will be central in the Forum. To that end, they will be involved in the various discussions aimed at a coordinated approach at global level, food producers and representatives from various territories and Member States of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries , Mercosur and the Community of Ibero-American States. The event is supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and is organized by the Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova in Portugal, the Mechanism for Facilitating Civil Society Participation in CONSAN-CPLP, the Network For the Bio-Regions, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Portugal and the Executive Secretariat of the The Community of Portuguese Language Countries.
