The seed guardians of Quito protect Ecuador's food heritage
By planting a range of different crops, each with its own genetic diversity and potential for change, the plants themselves can adapt, and if one crop fails, farmers don't necessarily lose their whole harvest.
Farmers in Ecuador rarely use traditional seeds these days. Instead, they mostly plant industrial varieties not native to Latin America. This video presents how the Seed Guardians Network is trying to stop old seeds from disappearing.
