The First Agroecology Congress of Extremadura will be held on 23-25 September 2021. The objectives of the congress are:

1. To lay the foundations of scientific knowledge that can contribute to sustainable production and food, making known applied research work and agroecological practices that already exist in different areas of Extremadura and the rest of the country.
2. To address the impact on the agri-food sector of burning issues such as climate change, the loss of biodiversity and fertility of the soil, the lack of knowledge of accessible techniques for the agroecological transition in our territories, the conventionalization of organic farming, and other weaknesses of this sector in Extremadura, the pressure of the so-called global markets, the lack of a right to food in Extremadura and the regulations that hinder the agroecological transition, among others.
3. To promote knowledge and applied research networks among the participants, with the aim of promoting learning for the development of public policies at regional, county, and local levels.
