Knowledge of social technologies by rural extension workers in Brazil
This study sheds light on the role of rural extension workers in Brazil and their engagement with social technologies to support agroecology and the agroecological transition. By surveying 575 professionals working in technical assistance and rural extension services (TARE), the research explores their knowledge and involvement in promoting these innovative practices.
The findings reveal that while most rural extension workers recognize the value of social technologies and actively participate in related initiatives, their understanding often remains at a foundational level. This gap highlights the need for more comprehensive training and capacity-building to fully harness the potential of these technologies for family farmers.
This study underscores the importance of equipping rural extension workers with deeper expertise, ensuring they can play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable and resilient farming practices across Brazil.
