Telling the stories of agroecology: How can assessment tools support it?
On January 10, 2025, Agroecology Europe and the FAO collaborated with delegates from the Oxford Real Farming Conference to discuss how measuring agroecology can support the transition to agroecological practices.
Measuring agroecological practices at the field or landscape level provides farmers with a comprehensive overview of their operations, helping them identify areas for improvement. This approach is also beneficial for conventional farmers interested in transitioning to agroecology. By evaluating practices, stakeholders can facilitate the implementation and support of agroecology, promoting sustainable farming and food systems.
This article shed light on the workshop co-organised by FAO and Agroecology Europe at the Oxford Real Farming Conference to present their respective work on assessment tools and discuss remaining challenges and the evolution of those tools to strengthen support for agroecology.
