Graduate Certificate in Agroecology – University of Vermont
Offered by the University of Vermont’s Institute for Agroecology, the Certificate of Graduate Study in Agroecology is a 15-credit, fully online or hybrid program designed for graduate students, professionals, and practitioners seeking to understand and transform food systems through a systems-thinking approach grounded in Participatory Action Research (PAR).
Through core courses like Transformative Agroecology and Participatory Action Research & Transdisciplinary Agroecology, learners explore the ecological, social and political dimensions of agrifood systems while building practical research skills. Whether you’re working in NGOs, farmer organizations, public agencies or academia, the program provides an inclusive and critical space to connect with a diverse global network of peers, practitioners and thought leaders.
Starting in Fall 2025, selected courses will be offered in a hybrid format—online and in-person—making it even more accessible. Students can enroll in the full certificate or take individual courses. With UVM’s reputation in food systems research and its commitment to equity and sustainability, this program equips participants with the tools to co-create agroecological transitions, wherever they are.
