Agroecology Knowledge Hub

Measuring Agroecology performance to generate evidence and engage a policy dialogue

02/10/2019 -

On 24-26 September, FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, in collaboration with colleagues from the Plan Production and Protection Division (AGP) and the Animal Production and Health Division (AGA) have organized a regional workshop in Bangkok in order to introduce the Tool for Agroecology Performance Evaluation (TAPE). This tool  has been developed under the Sustainable Agriculture Programme Management Team (SP2) as part of the Global Knowledge Product on Agroecology.

The workshop brought together 40 delegates from government, research, academia and CSO from 8 countries of South East Asia. It helped contextualizing the tool and raising awareness externally and internally in regards to the work carried out by FAO on Agroecology. The workshop was completed by a field day to 3 farms located outside Bangkok  in collaboration with Kasetsart University to test the tool in real conditions. Feedbacks and engagement from participants were very positive, and several follow up activities have been identified. Amongst others, pilots in Cambodia, China, Vietnam and Laos are likely to start in the coming months.
