Forum of Children and Youth of Latin America and the Caribbean 2030 2023 edition

The purpose of this Forum is to facilitate a space for official and face-to-face participation for children and youth from the region in the framework of the VI Forum of the Countries of Latin American and Caribbean on Sustainable Development and the ECOSOC Youth Forum, so that the voices of children and youth from the region are represented in these high-level spaces, in accordance with the SDGs prioritized for the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2023.
Likewise, this space seeks to ensure that more children and youth cancommunicate, propose and institutionalize their actions, projects and initiatives as relevant contributions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, obeyingthe mandate of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and in accordance with theRio+20 Declaration, which calls for the opening of spaces for youth participation.
Their participation will be conducted through participation in plenary sessions, thematicsessions, interactive dialogues and feedback sessions related to the recommendations made during the process and on the day of the event. The LAC Children & Youth Forumwill be one of the milestones within the framework of the Children & Youth EngagementProcess for the review of the SDGs for this year.
The contributions collected during theprocess and the Forum itself, will be used as inputs for the elaboration of a LAC Children &Youth Statement, which will be presented and shared with the United Nations andrepresentatives of the States of the region in spaces such as Forum of the Countries of Latin American and Caribbean on Sustainable Development, the ECOSOC Youth Forum, the High Level Political Forum, among others.
The Forum will count with the participation of children and youth from the region, experts on the issues related to the SDGs under review, representatives of youth organizations, UN Agencies, and UN and Government authorities. The Forum aims to foster a keymomentum for dialogue, which will actively engage children and youth in creating opportunities for accelerating action towards the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda in their respective countries.

Within the context of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), undertook a process of reflection on the future of agriculture, food systems and rural areas of Latin America and the Caribbean. It was a dialogue that involved a hundred experts from a score of nationalities, from academia, research centers, international organizations, other UN agencies, and the FAO itself.
