FAO, PAHO / WHO, UNICEF and WFP will present the Panorama of Food and Nutritional Security in Latin America and the Caribbean 2019

On Tuesday, November 12, four United Nations agencies will present their new joint report, the Panorama of Food and Nutritional Security in Latin America and the Caribbean 2019. 

The Panorama –published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP)– includes the latest data on nutrition and food and highlights the worrying trend of rising obesity and hunger in the region.

The Panorama analyzes the increase in malnutrition due to changes in the regional food environment, including increased sales of processed and ultraprocessed products, food composition, changes in consumption patterns, fast food intake, the increase in food prices and the growth of supermarkets. The publication also details the laws and initiatives that countries are already implementing to address malnutrition, and suggests policies to address all forms of malnutrition.

The document will be presented at a simultaneous press conference on Tuesday, November 12 at 11 a.m. in Santiago, and 9 am in Panama and Washington DC, which will be attended by top regional authorities of FAO, PAHO / WHO, UNICEF and WFP, which can be followed by video streaming on the following link: http://bit.ly/PanoramaSAN2019
