The tour operator Rutas Ancestrales Araucarias was created in 2012-2013 in the Andean district of Currarrehue, whose meaning in Mapudungun is "territory or place of new stones", which is located in Chile's Araucanía Region. The experience offers various customizable programmes of different duration that can be completed in between one and eight days. These programmes allow visitors to participate in a variety of activities, including workshops, visits to different places in the area, walks, talks, trekking and horseback riding, among others. At the end of the day's activities, visitors are taken to the home of the host family.

Although Internet connectivity in Curarrehue is unstable, there is a website with information about the services offered. It is also possible to contact the tour operator via email: [email protected]. In addition, the experience has Facebook and Instagram accounts, although the main means of communication and promotion is via email, while WhatsApp is used to communicate with visitors. In terms of business management, tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel are used, with much of the administrative work being done in Villarrica where connectivity is not a problem.

However, the families that provide tourism services tend to have a very low level of digitization, and do not have digital tools for business promotion or management, with all the tasks related to the experiences being carried out manually.
