FAO is conducting a series of knowledge-rich webinars on a monthly basis as part of the Progressive Management Pathway for Terrestrial Animal Biosecurity (PMP-TAB) Community of Practice. These webinars cover a host of topics related to the progressive improvement of terrestrial animal biosecurity, involving speakers and participants from multiple disciplines and backgrounds.

This month’s webinar will feature a presentation by AusVet on their efforts to support the beef industry in Indonesia recover in the face of ongoing disease threats. Since 2022, Indonesian feedlots have faced tough challenges in managing and controlling foot-and-mouth disease and lumpy skin disease outbreaks while staying profitable. While producers rapidly implemented a range of biosecurity measures, not all of the interventions were effective, with some being very costly. With the support of the Australian industry through Meat & Livestock Australia and the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Ausvet has been working closely with Indonesian feedlot industry members to develop and implement practical, safe, and cost-effective biosecurity practices.
