Strengthening animal health systems for a resilient future: FAO ECTAD’s impact in Asia-Pacific
FAO’s Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) plays a critical role in advancing animal health and global health security in Asia and the Pacific.
Through partnerships with 13 Member Nations, FAO ECTAD has strengthened national animal health systems, addressed significant health threats such as avian influenza, African swine fever and antimicrobial resistance as well as championed the One Health approach.
By enhancing countries’ capacities to prevent, detect and respond to diseases, FAO ECTAD contributes to reducing pandemic risks, safeguarding food systems and supporting sustainable livestock transformation.
