FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific

The 3rd Regional training of trainers on ASF detection and emergency response

15/03/2021-26/03/2021 Virtual, Bangkok, Thailand

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP), together with other partners, have been supporting countries’ efforts to contain outbreaks of ASF and minimize its impacts. FAO RAP developed training materials and programme on ASF detection and response, in collaboration with the SAFOSO (Because Animal Health Matters) with a support from the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2020. Using these materials, FAO RAP is organizing cascading trainings for frontline animal health personnel, which aims to strengthen their capacity for better respond to ASF with financial support from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). As a critical part of cascading trainings, the 3rd Round of the “regional training of trainer (TOT) on ASF detection and emergency response” will be held from 15 to 26 March 2021. This regional TOT aims to build a pool of regional and national trainers for subsequent trainings at the country and field levels.
