2nd Regional Organizing Group Meeting of the OCOP Initiative for Asia and the Pacific and, the International Capacity Building Workshop on Geographical Indications Environment and Sustainability (GIES) for Special Agricultural Products (SAPs) Development

Fifteen countries from across Asia will come together at the Regional Organizing Group Meeting (ROG) of the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) Initiative for Asia and the Pacific convened by FAO on 13 September in Beijing, China. The main objectives of the meeting will be to review the regional progress of OCOP implementation at country level, build partnerships with leading international institutions on science and innovation for OCOP implementation, and provide guidance on way forward on OCOP implementation in the region.
Carrying forward the OCOP implementation and partnership building, an International Capacity Building Workshop on GIES for SAPs Development, will take place from 12-21 September in Beijing, co-organized by FAO and the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR–CAS).
The workshop will build capacity for OCOP participating countries in Asia on how the innovative Geographic Indications Environment & Sustainability (GIES) methodology developed by IGSNRR-CAS can be applied for the sustainable development of SAP value chains. The event will feature a field visit on GIES application using open science technologies for SAPs in different agroecological zones. Participants are also invited to showcase OCOP GIES products at the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), a landmark annual conference co-organized by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Government of Beijing.
