Launch of the 2025 Asia and the Pacific Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition Report

 

FAO and partners - the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO), South-East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) and Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), will launch the 2025 edition of Asia and the Pacific Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition Report at a special event in Bangkok, Thailand and Online, on 17 December 2025. This flagship annual publication evaluates regional progress towards achieving food security and nutrition targets.

This year’s theme “Accelerating actions for agrifood systems transformation for food security and better nutrition” explores the progress made in the region with respect to key 2030 SDG indicators (specifically, SDG 2: Zero Hunger) and selected World Health Assembly global nutrition targets. Agrifood systems are at a critical juncture in Asia and the Pacific. Despite the region's impressive economic growth and strides in reducing poverty over recent decades, far too many people still suffer from undernourishment, micronutrient deficiencies, and the detrimental health impacts of overweight and obesity. The report emphasizes the urgent need for transformation in agrifood systems to address and end the major drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030.
